Hi!  I’m Elizabeth Hall, the new Soya ALT.  You can also call me Liz.I am from Jackson,Mississippi, which is in the southern part of America.Jackson is the capital city of Mississippi.  It is an important place for business in Mississippi.  American football is very popular there. We also have a minor league baseball team called the Mississippi Braves.I’ve lived in Jackson for 10 years.The summer in Mississippi is very hot and humid and the winter is very mild. It rarely snows.  One of my favorite seasons in Mississippi is the spring, which usually begins in March.  The dogwood trees and azaleas bloom, and everything is beautiful. 

My birthday is June 21.  I was born in St. Louis, Missouri. I have a father, mother, brother, sister, and nephew.  We also have a dog named Blessing.  My father is named Jim, and my mother is named Sharon.  My father works at Belhaven College, and my mother teaches at an elementary school.  My brother, Jon, graduated from Belhaven College in May 2009 with a degree in business administration.  My sister, Laura, and her husband have a son, who is my nephew.  My nephew’s name is Sean, and he is very cute!  He is 4 years old.  He likes to swim.

 

In May 2003, I graduated from Belhaven College, where I studied political science.  In December 2008, I received my master’s degree from Mississippi College where I studied teaching English to speakers of other languages.  I enjoyed school very much, and I am looking forward to using what I’ve learned in the classroom.

 

There are many things that I like!  Some of my favorite foods are pizza, burritos, and most sweets!  Since coming to Japan, I have tried many new and delicious foods!  While I am in Japan, I would like to learn to cook Japanese food.  Some of my hobbies include cooking, reading, hiking, listening to music, ballet, and photography.  There have been many beautiful things in Hokkaido to photograph.  I would also like to learn to ski and snowboard while I’m here in Japan.  I would also like to try to build a snowman, as I have never done that before!

 

This is my first visit to Japan.  Hokkaido is a very beautiful place!  I have really enjoyed the time I’ve spent in Wakkanai so far.  I don’t speak Japanese very well, but I am eager to learn while I am here in Japan.  I am also eager to make new friends while I am here, so if you see me, please feel free to say hello or konnichiwa!

こんにちは。私は宗谷教育局に新しく着任したALT、エリザベス・ホールです。「リズ」と呼んでいただいても構いません。アメリカ南部のミシシッピー州ジャクソン市から来ました。ジャクソン市はミシシッピー州の州都でビジネスの拠点です。

ミシシッピー州ではアメリカンフットボールがとても人気があります。また、ミシシッピー・ブレーブスというマイナーリーグの野球のチームがあります。

私は１０年間、ジャクソン市で生活していました。ミシシッピー州は、夏は非常に暑く多湿です。冬は非常に温暖で、めったに雪は降りません。ミシシッピー州の四季の中で、３月頃からの春が、私は一番好きです。ハナミズキやアザレアが咲き、すべてのものが美しい季節です。

 

誕生日は６月２１日です。ミズーリ州のセントルイス市で生まれました。私には、父、母、弟、妹と甥（おい）がいます。 また、ブレッシングという犬を飼っています。父はジム、母はシャロンといいます。父はベルハーベン大学で働いています。母は小学校で教師をしています。弟のジョンは、２００９年５月にベルハーベン大学を卒業し、経営管理学の学位を取得しました。妹のローラと彼女の夫には、私の甥に当たる男の子がいます。シーンという名前で、とてもかわいい子です。４歳で泳ぐのが大好きです。

 

私は２００３年５月ベルハーベン大学を卒業しました。そこでは政治学を学びました。その後、英語以外を母語とする人に英語を教えることについて学び、２００８年１２月に修士を取得しました。大学で学んだことを早く使ってみたいと思っています。

 

私には好きなものがたくさんあります。好きな食べ物は、ピザやブリトー、そして甘いものは何でも好きです。来日以来、私にとって初めてのたくさんの美味しいものを食べてみました。日本にいる間に、日本食の作り方を学びたいと思います。

趣味は、料理、読書、ハイキング、音楽鑑賞、バレエ、そして写真です。北海道には写真におさめたいたくさんの美しい場所などがあります。また、日本にいる間、スキーやスノーボードもやってみたいと思います。今まで経験したことのない雪だるまづくりにも挑戦してみたいと思います。

 

今回が初めての来日です。北海道はとても美しいところです。来日してから稚内での時間を楽しく過ごしています。日本語はそれほどうまく話せませんが、日本にいる間に一生懸命勉強したいと思います。また、ここにいる間に新しい友達をつくりたいと思いますので、私を見かけたら、気軽に声をかけてください。
